A Madeira made in memory of Manuela Vasconcelos, mother of Ricardo Diogo, main winemaker of Vinhos Barbeito. This special wine, results from the blend of 40 years old Malvasias and other older lots, from the family’s private collection.
Old gold colour, with a complex aroma of raisins, fig jam, brown sugar, tobacco leaf and smoked wood. In the mouth, this wine creates an explosion of flavours, sweet wrapped in spicy acidity, dry with a lingering fresh finish.

The Mãe Manuela was bottled in July 2013, in its purest state.
We have only a few examples left of the 1050 units, all individually numbered, exclusively sold here at DIOGOS.
My mother, Manuela Vasconcelos, started working with my grandfather, Mário Barbeito, in the 70s. In 1989, I joined her and we started a new venture in Vinhos Barbeito. Being Malvasia her favourite grape variety, I decided to make this wine under her name. A blend of 40 years old Malvasias and much older, some from her collection and others from my grandfather.
