Malvasia Cândida 20

The Malvasia Cândida was one of the first grape varieties introduced in Madeira. In the year 1455 the Venetian explorer Alvise de Cadamosto, carried out his first trip at the service of Infante Dom Henrique, the Navigator. During his time in the island he described the variety among the many vineyards he observed in Madeira. According to his reports, "... wines were already being produced, very good wines indeed, if one considers that the island has only been inhabited for a short time. There are so many of them, that they are enough for those of the island and many of them are exported". Fajã dos Padres is the only area where we can still find vineyards of the Malvasia Cândida variety. The Jesuit priests, found in the area of this fajã the ideal place to grow vineyards of this type. A privileged place, one of a kind, where the land reaches the sea, hidden by a cliff almost 500 m high, which remains to this day.

With a light amber tone, this wine presents aromas of figs, raisins, dark chocolate, clove, English cake and toasted almonds. With a beautiful freshness and balanced acidity in the mouth, a bittersweet touch, somewhat spicy and slightly dry with an elegant finish.
